“The dominant triangle and the common thread”…a work of art by Witzig with a size of 100 x 100 cm, which creates a rather neutral background as a base in white grey shades. Perhaps to give the dominant jet black triangle and the large white circle the necessary space. These two contrasting elements unmistakably point to the dichotomy and polarization of Witzig, with which she still sees herself strongly confronted. The current topic of loss, triggered by the loss of loved ones within a very short time, is very much influenced by fear of loss. But his own personal confrontation with death due to Witzig’s difficult health situation could not be more evident than in the form of this triangle. Witzig presumably chose a geometric shape with the triangle, which symbolizes above all stability and structure, because a triangle will never tip over. At first glance, the dominant triangle appears stiff and rigidly placed in the picture, but at second glance it is nevertheless given dynamism and movement by the many small colorful elements around it. This impression is reinforced by the tip of the triangle, which points upwards and thus clearly implies movement. It does not necessarily mean that the tip pointing upwards means the sky. It could also be a signpost or the pursuit of a goal. This could be indicated by the white circle, which symbolizes completeness, infinity and unity. It has no corners or beginning and end points and stands for the cycle of life, harmony and the cycle of nature. But also the many small colorful elements point to the diversity and liveliness of life and represent the different aspects of life. The fact that all the elements are connected in some way shows that all the different aspects of life interact with each other and influence each other. The red thread, which on the one hand pulsates with blood and on the other hand discreetly winds through this work of art, could be the balance between order and chaos, darkness and light or even the diversity within a clear structure.
