“Transience”… a work of art that at first glance seems cheerful, detached, dynamic and, above all, colorful. At second glance, the bright neon-colored sickle immediately catches the eye. A symbol that gives the work of art an unimagined depth and which depicts Witzig’s psychological processing process after the death of her soul kitten Murphy shortly before the start of the painting process. From a psychological point of view, the sickle can be interpreted, among other things, as a symbol for the process of separation or farewell. On the one hand, it is about letting go of old things or phases of life that lie behind us, but also about pointing out the natural and necessary aspect of death. Perhaps painting this sickle is Witzig’s first step in accepting death and the transience of life as part of the natural life cycle. It encourages Witzig to recognize the inevitable and to understand death not as the final end, but as a process of transition into a new phase. In her artwork, Witzig does not have the sickle alone in the center of the picture, but ensnares it with many other colorful elements that make it possible to change the view and direct concentration outside the sickle. The colorful life takes place around the sickle and shows unmistakably that Witzig seems to have found peace with her pain over the loss of her beloved soul animal.
