Lost heart…more or less a commissioned piece… at the beginning of the work I felt somewhat overwhelmed… as always when I am asked to create something that is not one hundred percent intuitive. A small format and the dominant color red were specified… at that point this was difficult, as the color red did not match my emotional state at all, and 50 × 50 cm is a format I usually use only for diptychs or trilogies… I prefer large formats, because painting geometric forms is very delicate work, and the smaller the format, the more filigree the painting has to be… with my hands no longer functioning well, a difficult undertaking… But… I simply tried to switch off my mind and just do it… what emerged is a work with a tension-filled dynamism… a fiery red background that glows powerfully, energetically, almost demandingly, and reflects not only the visual foundation but also my emotional pressure. While painting, I felt a great deal of tension, expectation, and intensity… normally, when I paint, I experience incredible feelings of happiness and freedom.

Nevertheless, the softly glowing geometric forms counterbalance this emotional heaviness with a certain lightness; they appear almost like islands or anchors amid the turbulent sea of color. The white semicircles feel like an attempt to create order, security, or even self-protection… as if my artistic self were trying to orient itself within a predetermined framework. The three neon-yellow bars could be interpreted as a desire for liberation and for breaking out of the external constraints… perhaps they also pave the way for my own creativity, which finds its space despite those external specifications.

The sprayed heart motif, which becomes recognizable only on a second glance and only from a distance, does not appear obvious; it is hidden, restrained, almost shy. Perhaps it stands for a deeper longing for artistic freedom and emotional connection.

Overall, my painting tells not only a story in colors and forms, but also of an inner field of tension… between intuition, freedom, and responsibility… expression and expectation… it is a painting that did not come into being “easily,” but therefore has all the more to say.
