I painted my latest artwork, 80 x 80 cm, after my trip to the Art Biennale in London. A journey that was marked by a lot of emotion, and although I had resolved not to have high expectations of London and the Biennale, I still felt a certain pressure… pressure that I put on myself. I secretly hoped that as many people as possible would be interested in my painting and enthusiastic about it. Then came the day of the opening, and I walked through the exhibition spaces to see where my painting was hanging. An incredibly exciting feeling, and when I saw it, my heart filled… I think it was something like pride… pride… that is such a big word for me, and feeling it is somehow very hard for me. In the following days, we got to know London from many different angles, especially from the perspective of accessibility for the disabled. Almost everything in London is accessible for wheelchair users without assistance, and the people are incredibly helpful and friendly. For the first time since I’ve been in a wheelchair, I didn’t feel disabled for an entire week. I belonged and was integrated because my disability was the most normal and natural thing in the world for the people. I was an artist among about 300 other wonderful artists, without judgment, without categorization into good or bad, without discrimination… an incredibly beautiful experience that is reflected in the many small colorful and geometric details of my new painting. In the overall view, a star is clearly recognizable. It is not an ordinary star, as the corners are created by the intuitively chosen arrangement of triangles. MY star, as a symbol for orientation and hope, conveys a central message: that despite irregularities, unpredictabilities, or imperfections, a clear, powerful direction or goal remains visible. The irregular points highlight individuality, diversity, or the unpredictable, and although the points are irregular, it is precisely the arrangement of the triangles that creates a certain balance in the image… the eyes seek the central position of the star, and the connection lines between all elements lead one to perceive the star in its central position as the focal point. The rounded lines show the harmonious influences and the certain inner peace I was able to achieve through my journey to London.
